Help me give my students art supplies to help them learn STEM! Drawing models and diagrams is a great way for all of my students to deepen their understanding of biology and environmental systems.
I love the diversity of skills and passions in my students. They are musicians, athletes, artists, writers, activists, researchers and athletes. I teach Sustainability and AP Biology which can both be very science and math heavy, and may not appeal to every student. I've found having students work together to draw large models is both fun and effective in driving engagement and understanding!
Drawing sparks their creativity, encourages teamwork and gives my students a different way to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding.
I love having their colorful work on our walls as reminders of the topics they have mastered during the year. Currently my walls are covered with posters of renewable energy technologies, designs for urban farms, models of cell signaling pathways, food webs, the carbon cycle and we are just about to create large maps to look at urban planning and sea level rise. Please help me with supplies to keep them creating!
