Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

Fabulous 8th grade students in an urban inner city charter school are craving books! The school district is offering an incentive program, yet the books needed to participate are difficult for the kids to attain. Sure, they can go to the local public library, but to have these books in the classroom would definitely ensure the participation of many more!

The greatest gift we can give to children is the gift of reading! For many of my students in the 8th grade they haven't had the pleasures of a complete classroom library, much less school library. I want to provide them with every opportunity to be a success and a thorough classroom library would definitely enhance learning.

The school district provided a list of books to qualify for the incentive. I would like to build this classroom library with as many of the books on this list as possible!

This is an excellent opportunity for you to give students who love new things, new books! They are so excited when I bring in a stack of books for their library, and all of the books are borrowed within a couple of hours. Please, put a new classic novel in every student's hand in one day!
