In my classroom I use a monster themed behavior management system. Students are rewarded with points for every positive act. Students can receive points for showing they are responsible, safe and respectful.
As a teacher, I like to focus on my students’ positive choices, and I love to celebrate and motivate students for making those positive choices of respect, responsibility, kindness and keeping safe.
I will use these rewards for each time they level up in points over the school year. I reward them at every 25 point interval. So at 25 points, they may receive tattoos. But later on at higher levels, they will earn a plushie. Students are also given a certificate and pictures are taken and shared with our families.
Students learn that they are a part of a community, and we tie this to community and civics skills. Every student learns they make an impact on their community and that it is important to all to make positive choices. Students are motivated to do well, and doing well in class means success in learning, which is always my goal.
