By supplying desk hooks, you have helped us significantly decrease high-traffic common areas in the classroom. The day these wonderful materials arrived in our classroom was filled with pure magic and unforgettable excitement. When the students first saw the heavy boxes being brought into our room, their eyes went wide with anticipation. As we unpacked the vibrant, brand-new books, all the students cheered with excitement. They all scrambled to test out the wobbly chairs, their faces lighting up with pure joy as they discovered the fun, active seating. Seeing their genuine enthusiasm reminded me exactly why these flexible resources are so vital for a thriving learning environment.\r\n\r\nThese incredible resources have quickly become the absolute focal point of our daily classroom routine and learning activities. The wobbly chairs have completely transformed our independent reading time, allowing energetic students to channel their movement productively while staying deeply focused on their text. Using them for small group activites helps my most wiggly students focus during lessons. During a recent lesson, I watched a student who normally struggles to sit still remain completely engaged for while rock-steady in their new chair. Meanwhile, our new books have sparked reading excitement across all skill levels. Students are constantly recommending their favorite new titles to one another and eagerly waiting for their turn to check them out. It is truly heartwarming to see how these simple tools have fostered such a collaborative and dynamic atmosphere.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we are incredibly excited to take the next steps with our current classroom lessons and creative projects. They will be utilizing the stability of their wobbly chairs to stay anchored during these intensive writing and brainstorming sessions. We are also planning to create a special project using student drawings of their favorite characters from the new books. This project will help them practice critical thinking, summarization, and artistic expression all at the same time. I received a lot of positive feedback from my teacher colleagues about this idea. So much so that I have decided to maintain it throughout this next school year. We talked about how our school doesn't really have a way students can listen to books being read to them on an indepent level. Books on tape or CD are kind of a thing of the past. My recordings of these books sparked an interest for that again. Students were able to go to the bulletin board just outside the library, scan the QR code and listen to me read to them on their own iPad. I had one teacher that actually brought her kids into the library as a class to just sit and listen. It was great! (only sorry I forgot to snap a pic). My plan this year is to move the QR codes to the front part of our checkout desk so they are front and center and add a new recording every week.
