Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first grade teacher at a wonderful Title I school in the Washington Heights neighborhood in New York City. Ninety-six percent of our students are eligible for free lunch, but this does not dampen the spirits of these motivated students. Many of my students do not have access to technology in their homes. I have worked very hard to make our classroom a bright and happy environment, despite the struggles many of them face every day. My students are inquisitive, curious, creative and compassionate. They inspire me to be a better teacher every day.
I feel blessed to teach my students and I believe that my students are the future leaders of this country.
In first grade, I try my best to engage the kids in literacy centers that stimulate, enhance, and challenge them to practice the literacy skills they need to be successful readers and writers.
My Project
If I get the two monitors I will be able to deliver instruction using Google Meet or Zoom on one device while presenting the lessons to my students on the second monitor.
I know that having the two monitors will improve the way I teach my students because I will be able to see their faces and my students will be more attentive to the lessons.
Also I will be able to listen to all their questions and comments.
Another advantage of having two monitors is that taking attendance will be easier for me and the communication among the students will improve and get better as well. My main goal is to provide my kiddos with age appropriate, meaningful and engaging lessons every day.
