My students need financial literacy materials including a Money Station Kit, Dollars and Cents CD-ROM, Money Math Grocery Store, Drive-Thru Menu Math, and a few money games.
Our school services students from ninth-twelfth grade. My students are learning at several different performance levels, within a self-contained classroom. The program allows the students to travel to different classes throughout their day. They struggle with moderate-cognitive impairments. Some students also struggle with physical, speech, vision, occupational, hearing, and behavioral impairments.
My students learn best with visuals and engaging activities.
They like to collaborate with each other while learning. Please help bring the best tools to enhance the learning styles and engagement of our very special population!
My Project
Our students will have some really nice financial materials to educate them all about money. Our students need to have a strong foundation of money so that they can budget, and make sure they do not get cheated in the real world. We teach money as one of our strong life skills to succeed! We teach money in math centers as well as a whole group. The Dollars and Cents CD-ROM and the interactive whiteboard lessons will be perfect for our large group. Some awesome center money activities will be great with the Buy It Right Money game, Menu and Grocery Math lessons. Then, some independent math activities can be implemented with the All About Money Learning Center.
The number one problem in today's generation and economy is the lack of financial literacy (Alan Greenspan).
I was chosen to teach our great students in the Math Concepts class. This awesome opportunity to have some new financial literacy materials to teach it, the way they learn, will be great! I chose some different learning style activities, like interactive whiteboard lessons, workbooks for menu and fast food restaurant math, and games.
