My Students
Students at my school come from a working class neighborhood that is very well integrated. They are every color of the rainbow and come from multiple backgrounds. One thing that they have in common is that many of their families are working multiple jobs and having trouble making ends meet.
Teachers, counselors, and other staff members frequently purchase basic need items for students who are not able to receive them from their families.
This school uses a program of catching students doing the right thing. There is an ongoing conversation about "being a bucket filler" by doing good things. They receive incentive "bucks" for good behavior and deeds.
My Project
Monopoly, Life on a Farm, Payday and Game of life will help us learn financial literacy and Life helps us work through real life decisions. The games will help us make better life decisions and better financial decisions while playing with our friends.
It will also help with our social skills and team work.
My students have a hard time working with each other, I am hoping to improve these life skills. Life on a farm will also give them a different point of view because none of our students have any experience living on a farm. Payday will help with making students learn how to budget money.
