I work with academically gifted students in the Southeast Delco School District. Exceptional learners, my students exhibit a wide variety of strengths including advanced vocabulary, a highly developed sense of curiosity, keen observation skills, etc. The gifted program is designed to enrich/accelerate the curriculum in order to challenge these students.
The goal is to meet the needs of my students by providing challenging learning activities that enable them to make continuous progress in school and inspire them to become lifelong learners.
Gifted programming positively influences students' futures. Further, gifted programming provides diversity of the academic, interpersonal, and emotional needs of each student in an appropriate environment where students may explore topics of interest as well as think critically and creatively alongside their academic peers.
The students are exciting about participating (competing) in this year's Philadelphia Junior Flower Show. The theme of the show is "Petal Power". Inspired by the Impressionist artist, Claude Monet, the students will study his work and select one of his stunning impressions that features an outdoor scene.
Monet's lively and quick brushstrokes will be replaced with either beans, seeds and/or grains in order to meet the criteria set forth by the Junior Flower Show.
The foam board, paint and glue will be used to enhance the beauty of the children's creations.
When Mosaics are complete, they compete in the Philadelphia Junior Flower Show. Every student will be recognized for their submission(s) with ribbons. There will also be a best of show. All of my students will have the opportunity to participate in this activity. If their submission is selected for the top price, Best of Show, they will receive tickets to attend the Philadelphia Flower Show along with a parent.
My students are excited about participating in this year's Philadelphia Junior Flower Show. This activity inspires them to become, perhaps, budding horticulturists, future artists, and, of course, the next generation of environmental stewards.
