Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are inquisitive, enthusiastic, and eager to come to school. I love teaching and coaching my class as the students learn more about the world and about themselves as individuals and as a group working together. We are an inclusive classroom and exploring different ways to grasp new concepts and expand our learning by integrating physical education, visual and performing arts, science, health, and social studies into reading, language arts, and math lessons.
Integrating richness in my class environment and programs is imperative because poverty is a part of life for many of my students.
Many of my students come from homes where English is a new language. Hard working and supportive, my parents are grateful for the opportunities school can provide for their children. I am dedicated to delivering not just a wonderful school year, but building a love for learning in my students. Evaluating the why of learning is as valuable as considering the what in our discussions each day.
It is a joy to be part of my students' lives as their fourth grade teacher!
My Project
We will be returning to campus, and the butterflies will be, too with the addition of this new monarch migratory station. In an effort to support and attract monarchs, my class will start native milkweed seeds and transfer the seedlings to the monarch station, then wait to welcome our migratory visitors!
Learning more about native and non-native milkweed and the effect of each on monarchs will provide my students a greater understanding of environmental balance.
Students will gain knowledge on how human activity has impacted the monarch butterfly and what can be done to counter this.
