This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

How would you feel if your child said "Mom/Dad, I don't want to go to school, because this big kid keeps bothering me!"? We need to combat the horrible problem of bullying in school as early as kindergarten.

I have 20 terrific kindergarteners at a Title 1 school in Southern California.

My school is located in a lower socioeconomic area; therefore, my students have an even higher risk of getting bullied, not only in school, but in their own community as well.

My Project

I am requesting anti-bullying literature and materials for our cooperative learning centers. With these items I will be able to not only teach my students about bullying and what to do if someone is actually bothering them, but will also be able to teach social skills during our center time. While they are using the materials requested in this project, I can model how to communicate properly to reduce the problems that tend to arise.

I purposely do not provide enough materials in the centers to ensure that my students learn how to share through communication.

The more my students practice using "friendly" words during our center time and with these wonderful materials, the less problems we'll have with bullying (well, at least in our own classroom!).

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
