My Students

As a grade 3 teacher in an inner-city school, there is always a need for resources and I am willing to go to any lengths to get my students the resources they need! Why? They deserve a top-notch education as any child does. They already struggle with academics, as 100% are second language English learners and they need even more resources and support.

In our school, 100% of our students qualify to receive free or reduced-price lunches, so there is a definite economic need for these resources.

I thank you for looking at my project page and I thank you from the bottom of my heart on behalf of my students and their families.

My Project

My students need additional reading books for at-home reading. Many are not in a position to purchase reading books and many live far from the local library and they do not have a car to get there! I want these reading books so I can send them home for the students to read with their parents! Many of our parents are learning English as well and the students can read with them and they can learn together!

The purpose of this project is to get appropriate leveled reading books into the hands of my students to take home and read aloud with their parents!

It will give them a wonderful opportunity to show their parents the progress they have made in school and also to teach their parents new English words as many are learning English too!

It is a very special bond when children read with their parents and this project is especially for students to read at home! All these books will be sent home on a rotating basis so children have new materials to read every night with their parents! Then they will return them to the classroom and get new materials for the next night! I am excited to get this project off the ground and look forward to your support!
