Molding Mathematicians: Creating Hands on Learning!
My students need hands-on math manipulatives such as blocks and cubes to bring their math learning to life! These tools will help students become math problem solvers!
This project expired on February 18, 2013.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Are you a visual learner? A hands-on learner? Do you remember sitting in math class feeling lost? My students need these hands-on, visual math supplies so that I can support all learners in my classroom. Especially my English language learners.
My students are English language learners in a low income neighborhood.
They love math and love learning new ways to do math in the classroom. Many of these students would benefit from something visual because of the language barrier traditional math instruction can pose.
I am requesting base ten blocks and unifix cubes that can be used to teach multiplication, division, place value, number sense, addition, subtraction... Almost any math concept at the 4th grade level can be made easier for visual or hands-on learners using these materials.
This project is so important because too many children slip through the cracks in mathematics.
They feel left out and are not sure how to navigate numbers. I want to give these students the best possible chance at succeeding!
