I teach art to students from Pre-K all the way to fifth grade. My students are curious, creative, innovative, and eager! They absolutely love the excitement of coming to art class each day wondering what we are going to make next! They come in knowing our classroom is a safe place to take brave new chances with their imagination, and I see their growth both in thinking and character constantly.
Each child in my classroom absolutely beams when they hear about a new process we are going learn in the classroom.
I would love to be able to provide them with a variety of art mediums and methods on a regular basis.
Our school is an older campus, and over half of the population moved to a new school with lots of new materials and supplies this year. There have been some major budget cuts, leaving the art classroom with basic supplies.
My Project
My elementary art classroom of imaginative children is full of such enthusiasm. On a very limited art budget, I must provide meaningful and exciting visual arts experiences for all 400 students, grades Kinder-5th. We need help to move beyond the basics of paper, crayons, and markers to introduce the tools and media that professional artists use. The introduction of more advanced art media in my classroom excites and draws in my emerging artists–giving them the spark to continue with art throughout middle and high school and hopefully into their future careers.
These moldable minds need clay modeling tools!
Modeling tools may not sound like an exciting tool to you, but they are one of the most valuable tools a potter has in his toolbox. Modeling tools add intricate details to clay pieces, adds finishing touches to a sculpture, and can transform a mess into a masterpiece in just a few swift scrapes. Modeling tools act an extensions of the fingers and will enable students to go from basic to precise in a matter of minutes! Your donation will help create artworks that the students and their parents will treasure for years to come.
Many of our students and faculty lost their homes and precious belongings in the flooding from Hurricane Harvey. Several families are still in the depths of recovery - trying to replace what belongings they can one piece at a time. Art can be an outlet for them to express their emotions and feelings. I want to give our students an opportunity to express that in ways other than just their voice.
