Our mission at ACCS is to prepare 100% of our scholars with the academic foundation and the character skills necessary for success in college, career, and life. We believe that every scholar can learn, grow, prosper, and have a positive impact on their families and in their community. We are thrilled to take on year five of our seven-year growth plan.
The 500 scholars at our schools come from diverse backgrounds and have created their own community and family at ACCS.
More than 99% of ACCS students live in Fall River. All of our scholars receive free lunch. A majority, according to the state of MA, are economically disadvantaged. Too often our scholars struggle with food insecurity, housing insecurity, even homelessness. For the 2018-19 school year, the middle school will enroll 300 scholars in grades 6 through 8. The high school will enroll 200 scholars in grades 9 - 11. Our school believes all scholars, with hard work and support, can excel academically and see success in college, career, and life!
My Project
In 2019-2020, 7th grade scholars will be diving into the stories of some of the world's earliest cultures and traversing the world as they learn about geography. As they dive deep into the ancient civilizations, it is my goal to get scholars to truly understand appreciate their everyday way of life and how they communicated that to future generations. In addition, I would love to see how the past connects to modern issues in their country of study!
7th grade scholars can be very active learners, so it is a must that I engage from day one!
This project will allow me to purchase subscriptions to Nearpod and Nearpod Diverse Cultures. These two memberships will allow me to engage through 21st-century technology. In addition, the books requested will build my fiction and nonfiction library.
