In 2018-2019, 7th grade scholars will be diving into the stories of some of the world's earliest cultures. As they dive deep into the ancient civilizations, it is my goal to get scholars to truly understand appreciate their everyday way of life and how they communicated that to future generations. One way we will be doing this is through learning about famous writings from the ancient times. The graphic novels will be used to help make the ancient text more approachable by my 7th graders. The other nonfiction texts in the project will allow scholars the opportunity to complete rich research on the stories of ancient civilizations, with a focus on mythology. In addition, the posters will allow scholars to be surrounded both with informational text, but also ancient imagery. Lastly, the expo markers, clay, and colored pencils, will be used to boost the variety of project based learning that takes place in global literacy.
