Help me give my students a guitar and ligatures to fill our out band's sound!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My students walk into the band room every day excited and ready to learn and advance in music! My students are determined to be the number one band in the country. Every week, we say it to get all of the students motivated to perform and play!
Our school's band population represents over 47 countries!
Many of my students use school-owned instruments which are all in much need of repairs or are beyond the repairing and just need to be replaced. My students continue to perform on these instruments and love it!
They are strong academic students and look to find balance through co-curricular course offerings such as music. They are young, vibrant personalities and enjoy attending school because of the many opportunities it provides.
We are going to start a new band class called "Modern Band!". This class will introduce students to a "modern" band. Students will learn guitar, drums, and piano. They will also be able to play wind instruments and sing! This class is for students to have another outlet to perform and learn to play instruments!
The year 2020 hasn't been what we thought it was, but we will make the best of it!
The students will be utilizing the ligatures to build sound musical technique. The guitar will help students learn to play while limiting sharing. The materials will help us when we present virtual concerts for the school and the surrounding community. After the students render concerts, they will share their experiences with younger students (elementary) in hopes to encourage them to participate in their music program. As the students become more advanced, the typical beginner materials just will not suffice anymore. The beginning materials can not help students continue to grow.
Donations to this project will significantly impact the lives of not only the students in the music program but the entire school community.
For years, the students have been able to provide meaningful service with limited resources. This is their chance to soar to new heights in their musical outreach.
