Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is full of amazing students. The majority of our students receive their meals through the free meal program. No matter their circumstances, our students rise to the occasion.

Students function best in an engaging, exciting learning environment, where their work is meaningful and valued.

They respond best when given opportunities to work on engaging projects that provide collaboration with peers and challenge them to work above and beyond their perceived capabilities. Students in my program seek the best for themselves and others. They are striving to make this world a better place by taking a stance against bullying, and always striving to do what is right.

My Project

All of my students want to learn how to use equipment that will prepare them for the real world. Many of them have little or no access to high level technology that is needed to be successful in the world today. Applications using 3D technology are changing how we are able to solve problems through building models. My students deserve the opportunity to have access to the equipment that is changing how students come up with solutions to solve problems.

Students who come from lower socio-economic, emotionally deprived and special-needs backgrounds deserve the chance to utilize high level technological equipment!

Low performing schools are often thought of as a deep hole that receives the lion's share of funding. These funds, not a lot, must be earmarked for specific items. Higher level technology that can be used to help develop higher order skills in students are not part of that list of items.

The use of a 3D printer will accomplish three main goals. First, students will be able to learn programming skills that can be applied for later school use. Being able to use programs will help problem solving skills to develop at a higher level. Second, my students will have access to equipment that is being used in all the junior high schools that they will be feeding into. They will be more prepared and able to continue their academic development through use of this printer. Third, students will be able to develop collaborative skills through group work as they discuss how a model would help them to explain a phenomena (event). Work on the creation of this model would be further enhanced as they develop the model that needs to be printed.
