My students need a molecular kit that shows how electron orbitals overlap.
FULLY FUNDED! Mr. Snodgrass's classroom raised $480
This project is fully funded
My Students
My students are very excited to get out of their seats and get involved in hands-on projects. I try to perform labs with every topic to continue keeping them engaged.
This year's honors chemistry students are very intelligent, confident, and show an interest in the topic.
They are excited when they get a chance to get out of their seats and participate in investigative activities. Many of them may be interested in continuing their chemistry knowledge by enrolling in AP chemistry next year and I would like for them to have the confidence in the curriculum and lab experience to do so.
My Project
Understanding the concept of hybridization, orbital overlap, and bonding is complicated but this kit will provide a better method of learning the material. The students will use the models to visualize valence pair electron pair repulsion. I will be able to use these models on exams as part of a lab practicum.
This lab will provide a visual representation of the modern atomic theory and allow them to become more confident in the course.
In my class, hands-on models continue to be very helpful.
