Many of the students in our school come from a high poverty area. Some do not have the opportunity to go places and explore new things due to financial constraints. Sometimes, what our students really want is a place to go that is safe, loving, and fun. Our students are full of energy and love hands-on learning.
After being out of school for such a long time, our students have been working tirelessly at home during our virtual learning time.
When students are allowed back, I want to make our room as inviting and as fun as possible. These kiddos have such a warm and inviting imagination.
My Project
I have requested different colored modeling clay! This modeling clay is going to be used in our art center that students will have access to for 60 minutes each day! Part of ECERS, an early childhood evaluation tool, requires we have 3D materials and art displayed around our classroom.
Students will be able to use this 3D piece to work on fine motor skills while kneading their clay to make it soft, use creativity to build, and display their work for anyone that comes into our classroom to see!
Not many students ages 3-5 have ever been exposed to the use of clay. Our animal unit is coming up and it would be perfect for students to use to create creatures!
