Mobile Personal Non Permanent Surfaces to Show Student Work

Help me give my students reusable tools to show their work while being mobile. Portable, personal whiteboards allows all students to be problem solvers and demonstrate their thinking without fear of not being able to erase their work.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Research from Dr. Liljehdal has shown that students prefer to show their thinking on non permanent surfaces instead of paper. Since math is all around us, I want students to be able to have mobile, personal whiteboards to take our classroom outside the four walls.

I have been using wall mounted whiteboards for over two years and have noticed the difference in engagement in my students when they have to show their work on paper as opposed to a whiteboard.

Students are more willing to try to model, graph, draw a picture using a whiteboard marker than a pencil or pen.

Learning how to productively engage in group work is a critical skill for our next generation. As an educator, it is important for me to aid in the development of their critical thinking and problem solving skills while collaborating with their peers.
