Mobile Math & Literature Classroom Rolls In More Learning
My students need to explore additional content areas in advanced math including geometry, scale, ratios, and proportions, as well as data collection, analysis, and graphing. I also need ways to keep items accessible and organized!
Bright, eager minds and fidgety hands need to be occupied and engaged as they tackle tough subject matter in tight quarters. We want every student to be able to continue learning and absorbing new content without merely accelerating them into next year's curriculum. My class is held in open common space from a rolling cart so I need to be able to keep them interested and be a space magician to make it all get packed up again afterwards. Our school itself is located at the top of the mountain - next to a Christmas tree farm. Close to Silicon Valley but with a slower, close-to-nature and very physically active student lives.
My Project
My classroom is a rolling cart ready for identified students who are advanced above grade level to continue learning not just faster or farther but via deeper content learning and exploration into math theory and history--learning the history of and application of Pi for example and not just how to calculate circumference. I need age appropriate and hands-on materials to keep them delving into tough subjects with smiles! I also teach literature and writing skills via my cart and rotating book clubs so always need books, anchor charts, tools for projects and displays, and ways to store it all in my tiny space.
