Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach TK-3rd grade students with a variety of intellectual, physical, and sensory impairments. My students learn in a variety of ways that may appear different than the average classroom. This learning requires more physical objects, more items for reinforcement, and a dedicated staff who love to explore and learn together.

My students love to engage with the world around them physically and thus do well if their learning is presented physically.

I'm in my second year teaching this fun class, but due to covid, it is my first year in person. With that said, I'm starting with the need for some basics and some novel items.

My Project

This is my first year teaching in person to a small but varied age, grade and skill level. This amazing mobile storage and teaching easel will help me move from group to group and from area to new area of the classroom while taking everything with me.

This mobile command center will allow my grouping and teaching to be mobile.

For example, my aides take their lunch while I teach the whole class science and social studies. During this time, we alternate standing at the front boards, sitting on the carpet, and sitting at tables depending on what the task requires and the needs of my students to move in order to stay engaged.

I find myself hauling bags of supplies around the room. My back is feeling it! And this takes time away from students engaging in the project as I dig through my bags to get supplies or have to move back to the front of the class to fetch them.
