My Students

This project is for the school library. We are a low-income community with little money to spend on new furniture for the school.

My students are looking for a 21st-century learning space that meets all their needs.

As a new librarian to this school, I can see that my students are craving a space to read that is built with them in mind. This love of reading spans every grade from preschool to 8th, but with no place where they are reading for fun in the school, I worry that they will soon lose the love of a good book.

My Project

I am trying to make a 21st-century learning-friendly library for my school to use. We have a great space for the library, but our bookshelves are hindering our ability to use the space freely. The inability to move them to fit the needs of the activity we are doing is stunting what we can do.

Having mobile bookshelves will allow our students to be able to use the library in an infinite number of ways.

Without being held back by standard bookshelves, we can create spaces for student use that allow for creativity, imagination, and innovation to grow.
