I have the pleasure of teaching 2nd and 3rd graders in a self-contained autism class. Since I don't have children of my own, my students are my "kids" and I pour every ounce of energy I have into giving them the best learning experience every day.
My students are learning how to be independent, responsible individuals.
I don't just teach my special learners about reading, writing, and math. I'm also teaching them how to be responsible and caring citizens of our community.
My learners' reading levels vary from kindergarten to beginning second-grade. The kiddos are working on becoming stronger readers but sometimes reading can get very tricky.
As a teacher of students with special needs, I'm always trying to add new books our classroom library that are highly engaging for my struggling readers.
My students often have difficulty sitting for extended periods of time and paying attention, but when I read any Mo Willems book, my students can't take their eyes away from the book.
This collection of books will provide weeks of valuable read aloud books for our class. We just can't get enough of Mo Willems.
I will be able to use these books to teach my students the skills that good readers have like reading with fluency and using work attack strategies.
