Help me give my students a batch of new materials to experiment with mixed-media and incorporating textiles into their art projects.

My Project

After successful tie-dye and hydro-dipping activities, our students were inspired to incorporate fabric/textiles into their mixed-media projects. We plan to tear, shred, stain, bleach and collage multiple pieces of fabric and use the different colored pieces to create new imagery.

Upcycled fabrics will be used in conjunction with the dyes and to create textural swatches that will be collaged into 2-D works.

Once they have mastered a variety of dying techniques they will begin to develop imagery and or abstract works of art emphasizing color, drawing inspiration from textile arts around the globe.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
