Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Children love a challenge through competition that stimulates the mind no matter what their economic background is. The students at my school are no exception.
The students enrolled at the school are low-income, Title I students.
Some of them live in foster homes or are homeless. Others come from a single-parent family with multiple siblings. There are also students whose parent(s) is/are in the military.
For some, the different programs that the school offers during and after school for them are the one thing that is constant in their life.
This makes them feel safe, gives them a sense of belonging, and makes them feel included.
My Project
During this interactive virtual tour experience a Mission guide will lead the students on a tour of the Mission. They will explore history and special historic artifacts and one of a kind Mission locations such as the Serra Chapel and the Ruins of the Great Stone Church.
This program is designed to be taught as a Zoom meeting where students can see and hear each other and interact with the Mission guide.
They will also get to watch a video on Native American basket weaving and learn about weaving tradition and culture.
