My Students

I am so excited to begin this new year! Kindergarten is such an amazing year that is full of possibility. My students are determined, hard working and full of curiosity. They love to discover and learn as much as they can, each day!

I feel so lucky to be able to work with such an amazing group of students.

Since students will be starting kindergarten, this will be their first introduction to school, and because of the new circumstances, they will be learning in a totally new way. I am so excited because I know how motivated and capable this group of 5 and 6 year olds will be as we start this journey!

My Project

There are so many amazing opportunities for growth and learning during our kindergarten year. From reading and math to sharing and taking turns. All of these areas play such an important roll in helping our youngest learners succeed. Another large growth opportunity for Kindergarten is organizational skills. I spend a lot of time, especially early in the year, helping my class learn how to be responsible for their materials and keep track of their belongings. It takes a lot of practice, but they can do it! However, with social distancing and guidelines still in place I have run into a few obstacles.

That is where "Mission: Organization" comes in!

Typically, I have a shared materials bin in the middle of each table for students to share supplies and work together to keep it clean and organized. This year I do not have that option. So I am hoping to have a way for each student to organize their materials and practice this lifelong skill. Having Seat Sacks or Chairbacks as they will be known in our room, helps students have easy access to their materials, while providing them with many opportunities to be responsible. I love teaching skills that can be carried on well past Kindergarten and I hope to do that this coming school year with our chair organizers. Thank you so much for your help and support!
