These books will be an integral part of our classroom curriculum during both virtual learning and in person learning. My goal is for each student to not only enjoy reading about different people and places, but to see themselves in the stores we read. Using a collection of books that highlight diverse characters and different backgrounds will allow for an open dialog and lessons centered around diversity and equity. By using books that feature characters of diverse backgrounds, I can bring these conversations into my kindergarten classroom in a meaningful way.
