My Project

Most of my students come from low-income homes where they experience things that no child should have to at their age. When my students walk into my classroom I want them to know that they are safe and loved. By incorporating art materials and bright-colored legos, my students feel a sense of belonging. School is hard as it is, and by allowing them to laminate their artwork and post it for everyone to see they feel prideful.

I want my students to fall in love with reading the way I did when I was in school.

I want to build them a reading corner with pillows where they have access to books such as The Magic Treehouse and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. Reading can and should be fun and by making it so children learn they can escape their harsh realities when they open up a book.

Children love incentives, but I want them to work toward earning them. Punch cards allow me to keep track of their reading steps where they are working towards winning a rubber duck toy through a claw machine. All children deserve the world. My greatest life goal is to make sure that each student who comes through my classroom feels wanted and welcomed. With these supplies, I will be able to do so, as well as pass them onto the next group of students to come.
