Mission Chromebooks

My students need three Chromebooks to improve Reading and Math instruction.

My Students

Everyday is a new day. Change is all around us. Technology keeps improving faster than we can get our hands on them. I want my students to be able to thrive in their academics using Chromebooks that will provide them the ability to do so.

I have an amazing group of 23 Second Grade students who are ready to succeed.

My school has over 750 Pre-K through 4th grade students and is located in a high-poverty community. About 75% of our school is on free or reduced lunch. These students come to school ready to learn. It brings such joy to teach an amazing group of kids. I strive to improve myself as a teacher with the help of my students.

My Project

It is our mission to be the best we can be as learners. Our school has mandated research based computer programs for our students to complete on a daily basis. I have old computers that are just not beneficial to my students. We need these Chromebooks because technology is changing quickly. With these Chromebooks my students will be able to complete these computer programs successfully. Some programs that the students use are Accelerated Reader, Accelerated Math, Achieve 3000, and Fast Math. These programs provide the rigor that is tested on our District Made test and State Test. Also these programs are great for differentiated instruction. Students are able to complete Math and Reading instruction based on their learning levels. These programs will allow my students to get additional instruction and practice for skills they are struggling with. For example, students who are working on Accelerated Reader or Achieve 3000 are reading stories based on their Reading level. This eliminates any frustrations they may have when reading a story that is at a higher level.

Providing my students the opportunity to use these Chromebooks will continue to prepare them for the future.

There has been a lot of emphasis on our State Test to become computer based. A lot of these students do not have access to computers at home. This is becoming a disadvantage to their education. They are missing the computer skills needed to complete computer programs and any testing done on the computer. These Chromebooks will allow more students the opportunity to complete these research based programs during small group instruction and improve their computer skills. I am looking forward to seeing my students thrive through these programs and improve their Reading and Math scores in class.
