Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 4th graders in a special education, self-contained classroom. I work with students who have various disabilities and all of them are from low-income households. Most of my students come from families where English is their second language and most of their parents don't speak English. Even though my students are fourth graders, the majority are reading at a first grade level. Even with all of these challenges, my students still come to school each day, eager to learn!
My Project
My students love to read! Unfortunately, I do not have enough books at the right level for all of my students; they are getting bored of reading the same books. Not only do I not have enough books, but the books I have are old and are constantly falling apart. The majority of my students are reading below grade level, so I want to be able to motivate my students so that they can move up their reading level. My students would be so excited and grateful to get new books. Please consider helping my students get new books.
