My Students

My student-athletes are enthusiastic about school and love to participate in track & field. At our High School and our Middle School, we have over 850 students.

My student-athletes are a very diverse group and over 60% of them receive reduce and/or free breakfast and lunch.

In addition, 62% of our student-athletes and their families are economically disadvantaged. Our two schools are Title I associated and there is no federal assistance that goes towards supporting any after-school programs. Please consider helping to support a hard working amazing group of students.

My Project

As a longtime amateur golfer, I have always wanted to teach children the game of golf. I do believe teaching children golf will be great because unlike adults, they rarely have bad tendencies ingrained from years of swinging a club incorrectly. Children can easily be molded into solid swingers with the right clubs and instructions. In my opinion, it is always important to start with the basic putting techniques. Putting is where the golf game ends for most people, but when you’re learning the game, this should be where it begins. The putting stroke is a fundamental element of the game that if taught correctly can then translate into a solid chipping stroke, then up to the full swing. The mini golf will not only work on focus and depth perception such as eye-hand coordination, eye-foot coordination and spatial awareness; it will also teach students how to work collaboratively as well as independently. At the end of all daily lessons will conclude with self-assessments on what activities did they enjoy the most, how it is beneficial to the student’s health and how this will help them to keep a healthy/active lifestyle.
