Mindfulness Minute

Help me give my students mindfulness to reduce stress, anxiety, depression and increase focus. I can do this by providing group instruction using mats and pillows, as well as use these items with students individually.

My Students

The students I have the opportunity to work with are referred for mental health services to take place in the school environment. These are kids facing significant issues such as trauma, anxiety, depression, or or ADHD, but they have so much resilience and a desire to improve how they feel about themselves and life. It is very satisfying to see their progress and to celebrate their individual successes!

When the students I come into contact with are motivated to improve their mental health, it is wonderful to have the materials and resources to fit their specific needs.

They have a much better chance of success in being able to use the skills offered in therapy when their needs are seen and met by those working to help them!

My Project

Mindfulness is a proven method to improve children's ability to cope with stressors and increase focus. As the COVID-19 pandemic languishes on, these mindfulness skills could be considered essential for students as they try to adapt to changes and difficulties in their learning environment and at home.

Having appropriate mats and cushions to teach students mindfulness will allow them to learn the proper way to practice, thus enabling them to better implement skills into their daily lives.

As mindfulness becomes a part of their day to day experience, they will be able to carry the skills and use them as other challenges occur.
