Help me give my students I have selected a collection of books that focus on social emotional awareness, mindfulness, and resilient children. Several of the books support The Mind Up Curriculum.
I have a class of very excited 2nd graders. My class is made up of 21 diverse learners. The school is a high poverty school in a small town.
Our classroom library is in need of some social emotional books.
The books will be used to teach social emotional skills, during our morning meetings, as well as other times throughout the day. The books focus on brain-focused strategies, social skills, and mindfulness.

My Project
This project supports mindfulness and social emotional learning. The materials selected will be used to teach social emotional awareness. Several of the books are part of The Mind Up Curriculum that I will be using with my 2nd graders. We will use these tools during our morning meetings and other teachable moments throughout the day.
Social emotional learning is important to 2nd grade growing minds.
We will use the books to discuss important social emotional skills; like gratitude, optimism, mindfulness, emotions, respectfulness, and responsibility to name a few. I am excited to use literature to teach my students these very important skills.
