I work with students grades 4th through 8th grade. I work with both the general student population in the classrooms and I also work with individual students and small groups. I am the school social worker so I work with a wide range of ages and issues.
I work in a variety of settings.
I am in the classroom setting with the students doing class lessons on a monthly basis. I also do small groups in my office and do individual sessions with students in my room.
My Project
I would like to integrate mindfulness and gratitude into each of my monthly lessons for 4th through 6th grade. I will use the Imagination books as well as the other books for these lessons and the sun light for individual meetings. I believe by doing this the kids will better know their body and be able to handle themselves better when frustrating situations arise. I also feel that helping kids form habits of being grateful for even the little things that go well, can help with the high depression rate we are fighting with kids. The 3 minute gratitude journal will help with this.
I will use the yoga mats for individual sessions and small groups.
The speaker will allow all the students to hear the mindfulness video's for the class and small groups.
