Mindfulness Breathing Project

My Students

I am a school-based therapist working with students who have unique social-emotional needs that are impeding their learning. When they are not affected by their poor emotional regulation, we see their talents in a variety of areas such as drawing, computer graphics, and singing.

My Project

All the materials I am requesting will be used to help my students learn mindfulness breathing during my counseling sessions. I work with students who have different diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, and psychosis. While breathing sounds easy to do, it takes a lot of practice to bring your focus to the breathing. I found Biodots and singing bowl have been very useful in teaching and bringing focus on breathing. Worry stones will be used as a tactile tool to remind students to apply their learned breathing techniques in classrooms when they get overwhelmed and anxious.
