My Project

My students are a diverse group of curious, resilient learners who come to school each day eager to grow, despite the various social and emotional challenges they may face. What I love most about them is their empathy for one another and their desire to find peace in our busy classroom. However, to truly thrive academically, they first need to feel safe, regulated, and supported emotionally.

By providing a dedicated "Calm Down Corner" with bean bag chairs and a sensory tent, my students will have a sanctuary where they can reset when overwhelmed.

The feelings book sets and conversation cubes will give them the language to express their needs, while resources like stretchy fidget strings and weighted blankets offer the physical comfort necessary for focus. Additionally, essential supplies like crayons and markers will allow them to express their creativity daily. These tools won't just decorate our room; they will build a foundation of mental wellness that allows every student to succeed.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
