Mindful Mavericks

Help me give my students floor pillows to help us with our meditation and breathing practice.

My Project

The floor pillows will allow the students to be supported while they engage in guided meditation and breathing exercises designed to cultivate empathy and perspective-taking. Through mindfulness techniques, they'll learn to slow down and tune into their own feelings and experiences, which will help them better understand and relate to others' perspectives. By practicing these skills, they'll develop a deeper appreciation for different viewpoints and enhance their ability to connect with and support those around them. While journaling students will explore and address the concept of alleviating suffering in others. Through guided prompts, they will reflect on personal experiences, empathetic observations, and steps they can take to make a positive impact. By writing about their thoughts and feelings, students will gain insights into the needs and challenges faced by others, brainstorm ways to offer support, and develop a commitment to compassionate action. I plan to measure the success of these tools by implementing self assessment tools such as an appreciation circle where students are able to find ways to show thanks and compassion for their fellow student, storytelling and discussion as well as feedback from other teachers and parents.
