One special project we completed was our \" Past, Present, Future\" Project where students had to illustrate themselves at each point in their lives. Having a full set of crayons allowed every child to make their work uniquely their own. The pride and joy on their faces as they shared their projects were unforgettable.\r\n\r\nWhen my students first saw the new crayons, their excitement filled the room. The moment they saw the Play-Doh, the room erupted with cheers—they couldn't wait to get their hands on it. Their curiosity deepened when they discovered the Chinese wooden puzzles; they examined each piece closely and eagerly asked how to play with them. The greatest surprise came when they saw the \"Squid Stones\" game—students were absolutely thrilled and couldn't wait to start playing. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and it set the tone for a joyful and highly engaged learning experience.\r\n\r\nDuring AAPI Heritage Month our room turned into a hands‑on cultural studio. I set three discovery sessions:\r\n\t1.\tPlay‑Doh Dumpling Shop\r\nWith the rolling pins you sent, kinders flattened Play‑Doh \"dough,\" filled it with tiny beads for \"pork and scallions,\" then practiced the classic pleat‑and‑pinch. Besides giggles over \"extra‑chubby\" dumplings, they unknowingly reviewed fractions (half‑moons) and fine‑motor sequencing.\r\n\t2.\tMind‑Bender Corner\r\nThe metal brain‑teaser rings and traditional Chinese wooden puzzles challenged groups to unlock, twist, and re‑assemble. One table kept a running time‑sheet, cheering when the class record dropped from six minutes to just under two.\r\n\t3.\t\"Squid‑Stones\" Relay\r\nBorrowing the six‑stone dexterity game from Squid Game, teams had to snatch and stack without letting a single pebble fall. Students quickly discovered the value of strategic hand placement—and good sportsmanship when rocks scattered!\r\n These materials will continue to play an important role in our classroom throughout the year. For the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival, students will use the Play-Doh and rolling pins to create mooncake models, allowing them to explore cultural traditions through hands-on learning. The Chinese wooden puzzles and \"Squid Stones\" game will also be revisited as part of our ongoing exploration of Asian heritage, encouraging problem-solving, fine motor development, and cultural appreciation. These resources have become a meaningful and lasting addition to our classroom environment.","fullyFundedDate":1746475671310,"projectUrl":"project/lets-explore-aapi-month/9295862/","projectTitle":"Let's Explore AAPI Month","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Liu","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9405751_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1703787311348","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9405751"},{"teacherId":742473,"projectId":9295549,"letterContent":"Thank you for helping to make our Family STEM Night a success!
