Help me give my students the opportunity to see first hand how they can grow their brain and be smarter by comparing/contrasting the anatomy of a sheep brain & a human brain so they can observe how intelligence develops!

Hooray! This project is fully funded
Our students LOVE learning and support each other to ensure that ALL feel successful as they strive to master the rigorous 6th grade standards.
Our 6th grade scholars have a collective passion for learning and desire to experience first hand the fascinating world around us.
Our students come to us from diverse backgrounds and experiences. One third of them have known privilege in their lives while 2/3 of them struggle to just pay the bills. What makes our students special is their differences. Students learn from each other. They're mentors, models, and learn that we are all special no matter what clothes we wear to school or what kind of car our family drives. Yes, we are a Title I school, but we don't let that label limit us. Rather, it challenges us to work together to see ALL our students succeed no matter what their address is or what language their parents speak at home.
We can grow our brains and be smarter! We are an amazing group of young scientists exploring the potential we all have to learn. We are learning about how our brains function and about having a growth mindset. Our brains have unlimited potential. We are learning how dendrite growth can actually makes us smarter. We can understand that we don't have to fail. In fact, to fail is a first attempt in learning. With each attempt at learning, our brains are creating new neural pathways that allow us to extend our learning. During our Growth Mindset unit on the brain, we use a variety of text and video-based materials and are eager to explore the real brain of a mammal (sheep) to discover similarities and differences with the human brain. Purchasing sheep brains will provide us a hands-on opportunity to examine how the brain.
In 6th grade we practice the Growth Mindset which grows our dendrites and realize that anything is possible!
