This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach lower grade, elementary age students. The students are from the surrounding neighborhoods in an urban southeast Georgia city. My kids have limited worldly experiences out of the school setting so I am committed to bringing the world to them.
They just soak up the information like little sponges!
As I teach, they ask question after question. Our lessons start simple but then take an elaborate turn. I love teaching in an environment where kids are excited about learning!
My Project
The research-based math games and hands-on materials I have requested will provide my students with practice in troublesome areas. The math content I have chosen is the basis for a solid math foundation.
These materials will allow practice time which will, in turn, help to build the solid foundation needed for strong math and problem-solving skills.
Without the proper foundation, students struggle with basic math concepts. Students need these basic concepts in order to build upon for future mathematical success. The problem-solving skills needed in math will transfer across all other curriculum. I want my students to be prepared!
