I teach 5th grade at a surburban Title I school. I have a class of primarily female students (15 girls and 5 boys). Five of my students are classified as ESOL students - English is not their first language. Three of my students are enrolled in the district's Behavior Support Program and require constant shadowing in order to maintain appropriate behavior in a regular classroom setting. My students all receive free meals due to their socioeconomic status. Although we are not classified as an urban school, many of the students are from single parent homes and do not have the opportunity to experience all that I want them to have.
My 20 students are bright, energetic and eager to learn about the world all around them.
They love the ARTs and I try to help them deepen their educational knowledge by teaching with art (STEAM) activities as often as possible. I need resources to help foster their learning.
Modeling mathematics utilizing my document camera will bring magical results in my classroom. The document camera will allow me to accentuate the visual learners as they struggle with mastering fractional computations. Our students are digital learners and have strayed away from plain old 'paper and pencil' learning. I would like to show them various ways of solving equations and share the work of their classmates via the classroom SmartBoard. This could be easily accomplished using a document camera.
I want my students to excel as 21st century learners using the most current technology.
My students are more engaged when I am able to incorporate all of their learning styles in my lessons. The camera will allow for easily share of classroom projects and assignments.
