This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
The Midway Garden Club is getting off to a great start with the help of our donors. So far we have received books about plants, seeds, gardening, and the environment. We have also set up a library for teachers to check out the books to teach and share with their students.
One of the goals of this project is to teach our students about climate change and its impact on the environment.
They will experience firsthand how to be caretakers of our school orchard, and garden beds.
Our students are from low-income families, living in apartments, and from a diverse population. They do not have opportunities to plant, grow, and learn about nature unless they are in a classroom.
We will need garden bed covers to protect our raised garden beds, from the local wildlife and watering cans.
