My students need updated equipment including tripods, portable lights, studio lights, microphones and smartphone gimbals for creating their school news program and class projects.
I teach in a school where excellence is expected and success comes to all students in their own unique way. In this school, the students are expected to come with a knowledge of computers because most have at least one computer in their homes. They may have access to a computer but lack the knowledge and training to become successful users for their future.
My students shine brightest when they work creatively and collaboratively.
They demonstrate great pride in their work, celebrating their growth and improvement while challenging themselves and each other to exceed expectations.
To achieve their dreams and make valuable contributions to society, my students need an immersion in 21st-century skills - and not just the technical ones but also the "softer" skills of collaboration, creativity, and curiosity. I want my students to become creative life-long learners who are critical thinkers capable of solving complex problems.
My Project
Middle school students are always wanting to learn more about the world around them, especially when it involves their peers. With the materials from the project, my students will be able to work more efficiently and effectively for their video production projects. They will be able to capture the memories and moments most important to our school as young video journalist. They will be able to go out on the scene with their cell phones using the DJI smartphone gimbals and tripods. With the microphone kits they can use them with their cell phones or the cameras being able to record their audio without catching as much of the background noise. The lights will improve the overall picture quality of their production on and off our broadcast set.
By donating to our project, you will help my students produce visually engaging multimedia news that they will be proud to show to their friends and family, their school, and district.
With this equipment we will be able to expand our production.
Over the past year we have been building a broadcast program to capture the student body as a whole. In our broadcast journalism class and digital media classes they research issues, collaborate with their classmates, write and edit scripts and produce high quality school news and feature videos. The products I have selected are the missing pieces to creating exciting videos that my students will be proud to show to the world. We look forward to adding to our production while developing transferable skills and enjoying positive experiences along the way.
