My Students

Our school serves 6th-8th-grade children from the Shenandoah area in Virginia. This year in art class the students have expressed an interest in ceramics. In order to make this a reality we need your help. As an educator, I would like to see the joy they will gain from doing ceramics, but as a first-year teacher, I cannot fund this on my own. We need your help to make our ideas a reality!

Ceramics is a hands-on form of art that will help students express creativity through a calm and soothing median.

Students will be apart of the ceramic making process. They will create their bowls, decorate the bowls with glazes, and help put them into the kilns. The students will create a piece of art that they can cherish for years to come.

My Project

Students will be using the clay and glazes to make ceramic bowls. The project will be the first time many students have a chance to interact with clay. The students will be able to explore using clay and receive guided instruction when completing the final project.

Doing ceramics will enrich children's lives by exploring a new form of art and improving their motor skills through the soothing process of clay.

Ceramics is hard for students to do on their own outside of school because of the need of a kiln. The school has a kiln provided and all we need are the materials! With your help, we will be able to provide enough materials for a whole grade level.
