Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

An excellent group of inner-city students. My students come from all over the world and speak many different languages. Many of them struggle with reading and writing, but find comfort in science class where they can learn by getting their hands dirty. I take pride in providing them with experiences that lead to very organic moments of learning.

This group of students, specifically, love to learn new things.

They continue to impress me every day. They are awesome. Very deserving.

My Project

What better way to learn biology than by getting your hands dirty? These materials will supplement our lessons on cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems. Not only will this group of students have the opportunity to perform a real dissection for the first time in their lives, but by purchasing the dissection tool kit we are ensuring that I will be able to pass on this experience to other students for years to come. I am already looking forward to the “A-ha” moment when they realize frogs function with many of the same systems as humans. This will certainly be a class they won’t forget.
