My Project

My students are in need of valuable items to earn in our classroom economy.

In my 6th Grade Math classes, we learn about financial basics using a classroom economy system.

I teach about 200 students, and their goal is to earn pretend money in class by working on their math assignments, eventually spending it in our class store and quarterly auctions.

My desire for our Math Class Economy is that we would not only have fun earning money and spending it, but that we would also learn how to use pretend money online in a real-life way. As my students earn a salary for working at their job, they pay rent on their locker, pay fines if they have to, and also prepare for possible life circumstances recreated in the classroom. They must do their best navigating this financial journey, and my job as their teacher is to guide them through this year-long simulation. This experience will benefit them, not only to apply math in a real-life way, but also it is financial education that will set them up for success in the future.

My students learn valuable math and money skills, such as planning with a budget, using educational online banking technology (ClassBank.com), and experiencing real-life transactions in such a way that will prepare them to use money appropriately and wisely.

I am in specific need of these meaningful prizes for the end of the year. Please help us by providing valuable items that will ensure our students can be motivated to earn their money and spend it.
