My Project

I am requesting instrument reeds and strings, as well as a teacher book to go along with the student's method books. I teach in Dearborn, Michigan, and just started my career in January. I love teaching middle school, and have thoroughly enjoyed getting to make music with my students. Over the past couple months, I am noticing that a large percentage of my students are playing on chipped reeds and uncoiled strings because they want to continue playing but are unable to afford these supplies. The school I teach at is a Title I school, which helps to explain some of the disparities I have seen in our music program.

When I started in January, I quickly realized that a lot of the materials the class had been using were the previous teacher's personal property.

Because of this, I do not have the teacher book that goes along with the method books my students are using. Having this will help me be the best teacher possible for them, and will help streamline our class time and instructional delivery.
