Mid-Year School Supplies and Tubs for Book Organization

My Students

My classroom is filled with eleven and twelve-year-old students from a small, rural community. These students have higher level ACE scores and have typically experienced some level of trauma that has negatively affected their personal and academic lives. Even though my students face many challenges, they come to school and do their best to find success.

Our school district's motto is to develop life-long learners.

Our school serves 6-8th-grade students, and according to state proficiency tests, a small percentage of these students are proficient in mathematics and language arts.

My Project

Mid-year school supplies, please! Our classroom is in need of more pencils and paper to get us through the second half of the school year. More and more students are coming to school without pencils because their beginning of the year supply has run out. Students need refill lead for their mechanical pencils. Some students also have binders that are worn out and need replacing. Finally, I use an electronic doorbell to signal that it is time to switch groups. Sadly, my current doorbell broke, so I would love a new one for the classroom. Switching groups to a chime song are so much more pleasant than the teacher just saying, "Time to rotate."

We also need some new bins to organize our classroom workbooks and reading books.

These colorful bins and tubs are easy ways for students to keep their classroom materials neat, organized and easy to find.
