This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I work in a dual immersion (Spanish/English) school, which means some students come in speaking English and some come in speaking Spanish. Instruction occurs in both languages so students graduate bilingual and bi-literate. My students are bilingual, which is amazing, but they are also kind, funny, and inquisitive.

I try to make sure my students have everything they need inside the classroom in order to minimize trips to their lockers or the nurse.

A lot of my students do not seem to own chapstick, so they ask to go to the nurse to get vaseline for their lips. I would love to be able to gift them each their own chapstick. I always try to have feminine hygiene products and deodorant in the bathroom for students who need them.

Our air quality is quite poor at school, and I was fortunate to receive air purifiers for my classroom through a previous project. It has now been long enough that we are in need of replacement filters so we can continue to breathe fresh air!
